History
The Red-Eyed Tree Frog is often seen as a symbol of conservation, particularly rainforest conservation in Central America. Although the species isn’t endangered, its rainforest certainly is. Central American rainforests diminished in the latter part of the twentieth century, going from 60% coverage to around 40% coverage. The Red-Eyed Tree Frog’s range extends throughout this rainforest, making it a natural candidate for conservation awareness. Due to farming practices, population pressure, and a variety of other factors, rainforest loss continues.
