History
65 million years ago, Tyrannosaurus rex was at the top of the food chain, one of the most iconic apex predators in the entire natural history of earth. Then, in a geologic flash, the mighty king was no more. Scale is everything when considering the huge spans of geologic time that make up the era of dinosaurs. In fact, we are fewer years away from when the last T-rex roamed North America than T-rex was from Stegosaurus. The mighty T-rex would have seen a world like ours in many ways, where flowers bloomed, birds and mammals flourished, and even the continents began to resemble their modern shapes and locations. Although extinct, T-rex still lives large in best-selling books, blockbuster movies, and popular museum attractions. The king is dead. Long live the king.
