History

The history of duckie toys begins in 1839, when Charles Goodyear accidently transformed the sap of a South American tree into what we know as rubber. Rubber plantations have since spread through South America and around the world to southeast Asia. Some of this rubber was used to create toys, including toy ducks. They spread in popularity, but their big break came when a puppet sang a bath time song about his duckie toy. Today, the classic duckie toy is still sold worldwide, and some companies even create designer duckies in various colors and designs.
