Fiat CR.42 Falco (“Falcon”) – a single-seat biplane fighter, was the main Regia Aeronautica (Italian Air Force) fighter in the initial period of World War II.
The aircraft was developed by the Fiat design office under the direction of Celestino Rosatelli. Serial production was carried out from February 1939 to June 1944 at the Fiat plant in Turin. A total of 1,782 aircraft were produced.
Fiat CR.42 LW was the ground attack version for German Luftwaffe. It differed with bomb armament and flame arresters.
